It’s Labor day and we at Tridea want to wish you a happy and healthy one!
Labor day is the day when the hard working folks of our country get to take the day off, kick their feet up, and grill a big steak on the barbeque. Well folks, not I. I’ve got client work to attend to and company ideas to flesh out. You see, that’s the thing about owning your own business, it never really turns off…it’s always lurking there somewhere in the back of your mind. Of course, I’ll probably pack up the laptop and move to a more scenic location so that I can half enjoy the holiday and half work at the same time!
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I do love the mobility of working with a laptop. Hmmm….where’s the coolest location you’ve done remote work? For us pixel-pushers, we usually like to be connected to the net so there’s that constraint. I envy cities with free wifi coverage…that makes relocating your dark office to the nearest park quite attractive. I think the coolest remote working experience I’ve had was on the 3rd floor of the MSU library next to a window as a massive thunderstorm went by. Rain and thunder really help put me in a coding groove. But I digress.
I guess my point is simple: If you are passionate about your work then don’t feel bad about getting work done while the rest of country is having fun. And just because you’re working doesn’t mean you have to do it locked indoors! For those of you who choose to celebrate this holiday more traditionally (i.e. work-free), that’s fine too, just make sure to eat some BBQ for me!
